Tony has tried on ten different shirts, and is now standing in the middle of his room in his slacks and a white tee shirt, hands balled at his sides, angry at himself for being so stupidly excited about this.
Kev has been watching the whole thing from the bed quietly, worrying his lip as Tony gets more and more angry. Finally, he stands and goes over to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Tony...just relax a bit..."
"I'm acting like some girl in a movie, or something." Tony groans and runs a hand thru his hair - frustrated. "This is ridiculous."
Kevin takes his arm and pulls him over to sit on the bed with him. "I...well, can't blame you for being...excited and nervous. I know I would be..."
Tony smiles weakly and nods. "But what if I'm... I mean. Why did I say yes to this? I don't know what I'm doing!"
"I don't think...you're supposed to. I mean...that's why it's a 'first' date." Kevin puts an arm around his shoulder. "You said yes 'cause...you like Sam, and...Sam likes you and...uh...look, Tony...you'll be just fine."
Tony rubs at his eyes with the palm of his hands and leans into your shoulder, sighing. "I... I hope so."
Kevin resists the sudden urge to kiss Tony's forehead reassuringly, like his dad does with him. "C'mon...what could Sam not like about you? I mean...you know. You're...likeable."
Tony chuckles and smiles weakly at that again. "I.. I guess." And he sits up and looks over at you. "Thanks, Kevin.... I mean. If you weren't here. I'd probably not even go thru with it..."
"Really? I...well, um...maybe you should tell Sam...to thank me. 'Cause he'd be...missing out." He returns Tony's smile a bit shyly.
Tony blushes at that, brushing his hair from his eyes and nodding slightly. Then his eyes slide to his closet again and groans softly again. "Is it always this hard.?"
"I...don't know. Um...I've never done it either. Damn. I hope not! You have nicer clothes than me...." Kevin blushes a bit.
Tony blushes further at that and then shrugs. "And I usually only wear three our four things over and over again... But. Um." He stands and takes a white short sleeve dress shirt out. "What about this?"
Kevin smiles faintly. "Um...really, you look good in...anything. I'm sure it's nice..."
Tony puts the shirt on, buttoning it as he comes back to sit on the bed again. "This is it! I'm not.. I'm not fidgeting about it anymore." And he rolls his eyes slightly. "Why am I so nervous?"
"I'd be too. So...maybe it's only natural." Kevin comes over and starts fussing a bit, straightening the collar and brushing a bit of lint off the shoulder, again, like his father would do. "It really looks nice on you..."
Tony blushes again, and fidgets with his hem straightening the shirt and running his hands down his sides. "Um. Thanks." He chuckles. "I haven't ever been this nervous I think..."
"Well..." Kevin places both hands on Tony's shoulders. "Hopefully? By the time it's over...you won't want it to be..."
"I hope so." Tony smiles timidly. "I hope he likes me. I mean... as much I think I want him to..."
"I can't imagine that he wouldn't," Kevin says, pulling Tony into a quick hug, smiling a bit sadly while Tony can't see his face. "Really, you're...you'll be just fine."
Tony sighs and hugs him back, closing his eyes against his shoulder. "Thanks Kevin..."
Kevin pats his back slowly. "Sam's really lucky, y'know."
Tony blushes and leans back, curious. "Um. Why?"
Kevin drops his eyes, blushing furiously. "Cause...you're nice, and um...cute. And..well, if he messes anything up I'll hex his nose off."
Tony's eyes widen at that, and then he beings laughing, softly, giggling really - until it grows into full laughter and he has to sit down on the bed. "Oh. Wow... That was..."
For his part, Kevin doesn't see what was so funny. He was being serious. However, Tony's laughter is contagious, and he starts giggling as well, sitting next to Tony once more.
Tony claps Kevin on the shoulder, and turns, smiling. "Thanks... I needed to laugh." Still giggling between the words.
Kevin smiles. "Anytime, Tony. Now...you think you're ready to go?
Tony blinks. "Gods... what time is it?"
Kevin checks his watch. "Just...five, now..."
Tony exhales and nods, standing and grabbing his wallet and keys from the table. "Okay. Yeah. I'm...um.. I think I'm ready. You're still.. um.. walking there with me, right?"
Kevin stands. "Yeah...I thought I'd...spend some time looking around Diagon Alley. It feels...weird being here, if you're not..."
"Yeah. I... you don't think I'm like.. abandoning you, do you?" Tony frowns. Because in his excitement over the date he hadn't really considered it.
"Of course not!" Kevin says, probably a bit too quickly. "I mean...I understand. Really."
"Um..." Tony frowns again, then shrugs. "Um, good... so, yeah. Let's go."
